A Question-Led Psychological Assessment Process

The BrainBridge Assessment System connects the referral question, background information, testing, clinical interpretation, and feedback.

Our philosophy

Assessment should
be purposeful.

BrainBridge Psychological Assessment Services was developed around a simple idea:

Assessment starts with the question.

Our evaluations focus primarily on Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Specific Learning Disorder, cognitive functioning, and academic achievement.

We use a structured assessment approach that begins with the referral question and considers the individual's history, current concerns, and available information before determining what testing is appropriate.

This approach helps us focus on what matters.

The BrainBridge Assessment System

The BAS approach.

The BrainBridge Assessment System (BAS) is our framework for planning and conducting psychological evaluations.

Rather than beginning with a predetermined list of tests, we begin with the question:

What do we need to know?

The result is an assessment plan designed for the individual rather than a generic testing battery.

  1. 01

    The referral question

    What prompted the evaluation?

  2. 02

    The history

What has happened developmentally, academically, medically, and functionally?

  3. 03

    Existing information

What do previous records and evaluations already tell us?

  4. 04

    Current concerns

    What difficulties are occurring now?

  5. 05

    Assessment needs

What information is still needed to answer the question?

The assessment process

A thoughtful process.
At every step.

  1. 01

    Initial Consultation

We discuss the reason for the evaluation and the concerns that need to be addressed.

  2. 02

    Background Information

Relevant history and records are reviewed when available.

  3. 03

    Assessment Planning

We determine what information is needed and select appropriate assessment measures.

  4. 04

    Testing

Standardized measures are administered according to established procedures.

  5. 05

    Clinical Integration

Results are interpreted together with history, interview information, behavioral observations, and relevant records.

  6. 06

    Written Report

Findings are organized into a clear written report explaining the relevant history, assessment findings, diagnostic conclusions when appropriate, and recommendations.

  7. 07

    Feedback

Results are reviewed so the individual or family can understand the findings and their practical implications.
